About SqueezeVid

SqueezeVid is a free online video compressor and converter with one defining difference: it works entirely inside your browser. Your video is never uploaded to a server — it is processed on your own device using WebAssembly and FFmpeg. That makes it private by design, fast to start, and free of watermarks.

Why we built it

Most "online" video tools upload your file to their servers, add watermarks, or cap file sizes behind a paywall. We wanted the opposite: a tool that respects your privacy, doesn't brand your videos, and just works. Because compression runs locally, your footage — whether it's a family video, a screen recording, or unreleased work — never leaves your computer.

What SqueezeVid does

  • Compress videos to a target size for Discord, WhatsApp, email, and more
  • Convert between MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, MKV, and GIF
  • Process files up to about 2GB directly in your browser
  • No account, no upload, no watermark

How it stays free

SqueezeVid is free to use. Running it costs us real money for servers and bandwidth, so heavy users can optionally support the project, and supporters help keep it online for everyone. There is no obligation — the core tool is free.
