Why can't I open my iPhone photos on Windows or in email?
Recent iPhones save photos as HEIC, a compact format many apps and websites do not accept. Converting to JPG makes them open everywhere.
Will the JPG look the same?
Yes. We save the JPG at high quality, so the difference from the HEIC is very hard to see. Location and camera details (EXIF) are removed.
Why does my browser download a decoder?
Safari reads HEIC itself. Other browsers fetch a small decoder (about 2 MB) the first time you add a HEIC photo. It runs on your device; your photos are still never uploaded.
