Does M4A to MP3 lose quality?
Both are lossy formats, so there is a small loss. At 192 kbps or more the difference is very hard to hear. Choose 320 kbps if you want to keep as much as possible.
Why is my M4A from Voice Memos not accepted elsewhere?
iPhone Voice Memos are saved as M4A (AAC), which some websites, editors and older players do not accept. MP3 is understood almost everywhere.
What bitrate should I choose?
For speech such as voice memos, 128 kbps is plenty and keeps the file small. For music, use 192 or 320 kbps.
