How to Compress Large Videos Efficiently

Keep the recording on your device

The browser beta avoids transferring video bytes. It uses browser codecs and temporary local disk storage, keeps Original resolution, and requires compatible video and audio. HDR and some codecs are not supported. Keep its tab open while processing and allow space for the output.

Let the cloud do the processing

Choose the cloud when you need resizing, have a large AVI, or cannot process the file locally. Verify your email, check your allowance, upload, and submit the job. Once upload and submission finish, you can close the tab and receive the result by email. Uploading is a separate choice.

Estimate upload time separately

A 5 GB file contains about 40 gigabits. At a sustained 20 Mbps upload rate, transmission alone takes roughly 33 minutes, before overhead and processing. This is an illustrative calculation, not a server-speed benchmark. A local browser route avoids that transfer but still uses your device to encode.

Protect useful detail

For a screen recording, inspect small text before resizing. For camera footage, compare faces and moving edges. A target size is an estimate, not a guarantee of unchanged quality. Keep the original.
