Why does my PDF barely shrink?
Compression here shrinks the pictures inside a PDF. A PDF that is mostly text or vector graphics has few pictures, so there is little to save. We tell you when that is the case instead of claiming a win.
Do text, links and forms still work?
Yes. Text, links, forms and bookmarks are not touched. Only large embedded pictures are re-encoded, and only when the new version is at least 10% smaller.
Is it safe to compress confidential documents?
Yes. Your PDF is compressed on your own device and never uploaded. You can check in your browser's Network tab that no file is sent.
