Does rotating a video reduce its quality?
The picture is re-encoded once at a high quality setting (CRF 23), which is not visible in normal viewing. The sound is copied unchanged whenever the format allows.
Why does my phone video play sideways?
Phones record video in one direction and add a note saying how to turn it. Some players ignore that note. Rotating here bakes the correct orientation into the file.
What is the difference between flip and rotate?
Rotate turns the picture by 90° or 180°. Flip mirrors it, left to right (horizontal) or top to bottom (vertical), like a mirror.
