Frequently asked questions
Does muting re-encode my video?
Usually not. When the picture is H.264, HEVC or AV1 it is copied untouched into a new MP4 without the audio, which takes seconds and keeps full quality. Formats MP4 cannot hold, such as VP8 WebM, are re-encoded once.
What if my video has no sound?
You will see a message and nothing is processed, so it does not use one of your conversions.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The sound is removed by your browser on your device, so the video never reaches our servers.
